Surfing Australia believes that everyone will benefit from learning to be safer surfers and softboards are a great way to start to get into surfing as a sport or recreational past-time.” Surfing Australia is the governing body for the sport of surfing in Australia. Surfing Australia was established in 1963 and coordinates the National Titles and the Surfing Hall of Fame awards for Australia as well as being involved in sports administration and management, surf coaching accreditation, event management, athlete development, educational programs and environmental issues and concerns. Surfing Australia recently launched its Safe Surfing Program and so will now offer a five level certificate course not only to the general public but throughout all of Australia's secondary schools. The courses will also target the international tourist and female markets as well as strengthening its already strong male participation.
